Everett ballroom dancing Nathan and Delayna Fontes

Nathan & Delayna Fontes- Studio Directors

Delayna Fontes started her dancing career as a competitive gymnast when she was seven years old. While learning gymnastics, she also studied dancing to make herself a stronger competitor. After competing in artistic gymnastics for 2 years, she changed to rhythmic gymnastics, which is much more dance focused than artistic gymnastics. Her love for dancing eventually took her away from the gym and into a studio where she studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, modern, and ballroom dancing.

In 2005, Delayna was accepted into an intensive musical theater group called The Young Americans, based in Southern California. The school focuses on musical theater, all styles of dance, and teaching. Learning from nationally known choreographers, she worked on numbers from Fosse, Lion King, Cats, Godspell, Oklahoma, Hairspray, Stomp, 42nd Street, Chicago, Wicked, and many others.

Once she was back in Washington State she turned her focus completely to ballroom dancing, and became a full-time dance instructor and professional competitor. Since 2006 Nathan and Delayna have been professional dance partners. In 2010, Delayna also completed training to become an event and wedding planner.

Nathan was born and raised in the greater Seattle area. Athletics shaped him into the dancer he is now. He grew up playing baseball, basketball, and football. He excelled in wrestling throughout his high school career. Nathan's passion for water-skiing and wakeboarding turned him into a top professional competitor in Washington state in the late 90's. Four major knee surgeries took him off of the competitive wakeboarding circuit, and turned him on to the world of dancing.

Nathan’s first experience with dance started back in high school with break dancing, hip hop and training in gymnastics. Later after high school he found that his love for dance continued and break dancing was a thing of his past. He then knew he wanted to get involved in partnership dancing. Nathan then started intensively training in ballroom, and soon after became a ballroom instructor and a competing professional.

Nathan and Delayna were married in 2010. They are passionate about animal rescue and are advocates for responsible pit bull ownership.  They also donate to the local Cocoon House.
