What if I don't know which dances I should learn?

Most students that come in for social dancing are open to learning many different styles. If you aren’t sure what you want to learn, we can help you decide. We encourage learning several dances at once. Learning multiple dances may sound overwhelming, but you’ll be surprised at how similar the styles are! Knowing more than one dance will allow you to get up and move to all of the music you enjoy, instead of just one genre. Good dancers are well rounded.

For dancers interested in competitions, you may choose to specialize in one or two styles. Many competitive dancers also learn social dancing just for their own benefit.

How do I pay for my dance lessons?

We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. Private lessons can be purchased in packages or individually. We do not list private lesson prices because each student has a program that is personalized to their time, budget, and goals.  Group lessons are $12 each, or you may purchase 10 group classes for $100 ($20 savings).

When is the studio open?

We are open by appointment.  We are very flexible with scheduling lessons, so it can put us in studio at odd times. Our normal hours are Monday through Thursday in the afternoon and evening, and occasional Fridays.  We are competitors and performers, and often times have events or competitions on weekends.

Is there a dress code?

We do not have a dress code. Some students come straight from work and wear jeans or slacks, others dress up for a special night out. It is important that you feel comfortable moving in your clothing. When preparing for a special event, such as a wedding, we recommend dancing in the shoes and a similar outfit. This way you can make sure you will be comfortable on your special day!

Shoes should have smooth soles. Rubber soles can stick to the floor, making dancing more difficult. Also open backed shoes may come off. Ballroom dancing shoes are encouraged, but not mandatory.

Personal hygiene is important since ballroom dancing is a social activity. Wear clothing that is appropriate in close contact. Men, please avoid sleeveless shirts. Dance pants are recommended for women wearing shorter skirts. Dance pants are undergarments similar to bathing suit bottoms, and can be purchased at a dance supply store. Remember your deodorant and mints.

I have two left feet, can I learn how to dance?

Many people put off taking lessons because they feel that they can’t learn to dance. Private lessons give us the chance to teach you at a comfortable pace that matches your ability level. Everyone has a different learning style, and we adapt our teaching to fit you.

Do you offer group lessons for children?

At this time, we do not offer group lessons for children.  The majority of our students are adults.  We do offer private lessons for teenagers and young adults.

What if I have a busy schedule?

We are flexible for people with busy schedules.  Private lessons are by appointment. Generally, we teach Monday-Thursday from 12pm-9pm.  See our calendar for our group lesson schedule.
